An increase in energy subsidies for households and businesses will include the “package” to address the effects of the energy crisis to be announced next week, without ruling out further immediate interventions to reduce fuel prices, at least in the short term.
The increased subsidies will be implemented in April based on the data of the energy markets in March, which so far are very negative.
The average price of electricity on the Greek Stock Exchange for the period until last Friday was 321.49 euros per megawatt hour, compared to 211.71 euros which was the average price in February. In the Netherlands, the international price on the Dutch Stock Exchange reached an all-time record last week, reaching up to 345 euros per megawatt hour, to then escalate significantly, to the level of 130 euros per megawatt hour at the end of the week. At the level of final consumer, the selling price of gas from a large supplier amounted to 0.09705 euros per kilowatt hour in February, ie lower than in January when it reached 0.12531 euros but at three times higher than last year (in February 2021 the corresponding price was 0.02976 euros per kilowatt hour).
It is reminded that for March the subsidies are:
– For household consumers (floating tariffs, first home), 150 euros per megawatt hour for the first 155 kilowatt hours of monthly consumption and 110 euros per megawatt hour for consumption from 156 to 310 kwh. Thus, the total subsidy is set at 40.03 euros.
– For the Social Household Tariff the subsidy remains at 170 euros per megawatt hour for the first 310 kilowatt hours (instead of 300) without the condition of the first residence.
– For business consumers, with fluctuating electricity supply tariffs, regardless of voltage, the subsidy remains at 65 euros / MWh for the entire monthly consumption.
– For natural gas, the state subsidy in March remains at 20 euros per megawatt hour of heat for all consumers (domestic and non-domestic, except electricity producers).
