Compensation payments to livestock farmers for animals killed by plague and smallpox have begun.

Today they were credited to their accounts Regions 5,685,251 euros.

In more detail about compensations to affected farmers 4,737,569.76 euros were credited.

In support of citizens who incidentally suffered financial damage from the restrictive measures that 785,091.15 euros have been imposed.

For operating expenses, to the Regions in order to deal with the increased needs created for dealing with zoonotic diseases, 162,590.10 euros.

Finally, it is pointed out that today, December 3, 2024, the country managed to no longer have protection and surveillance zones due to the plague cases. As the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras, said, “this success is due to a single factor: the cooperation of all involved and especially the breeders with the country’s veterinary services and the veterinarians in the faithful implementation of the European regulation 687/2020. As a result, our country received the credit of the EU for the way it dealt with zoonosis and became a model for other European countries.
