To try to mitigate the impact of Petrobras’ mega-increase on the costs of earthworks, the CBIC (Brazilian Chamber of the Construction Industry) is going to send a request to the federal government so that companies can anticipate the readjustment of contracts with the public authorities. , which is done annually.
The rise in costs put the sector on alert because this type of work is highly dependent on diesel oil and asphalt.
José Carlos Martins, president of the CBIC, says he has already talked to some of Bolsonaro’s ministers on the subject. “Cyrus [Nogueira, da Casa Civil] it was fine on the outside. Tarcisio [de Freitas, da Infraestrutura] told me to take suggestions, he was sensitive”, he says.
The point is that the contracts of service providers with the public power can only be changed once a year, that is, those who have already readjusted January and February will not be able to adjust the new high.
This Monday (14), Martins met with industry leaders to assess the status of earthworks across the country.
He says that companies are not able to restore the adjustment to outsourced workers, and some have already paralyzed services.
“Everyone is worried. The fear is that there will be a general stoppage of outsourced workers, because companies will not be able to pay more. If employees ask for contract termination, the work stops and then it becomes more expensive for the government”, says Martins .
