The January Consumer Price Index showed an increase of 2.7% on an annual basis – in which categories of goods are the most important ratings recorded
Inflation was slightly increased in January, as evidenced by data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
In particular, the January Consumer Price Index presented increase of 2.7% compared to the corresponding index of January 2024, compared to a increase of 3.1% in the corresponding comparison of 2024 to 2023.
Compared to December 2024, the ICC decreased 0.7%, compared to a 0.8% decrease in the corresponding comparison of the previous year.
The Average of the Twelve months of February 2024 – January 2025, compared to the corresponding index of the Twelve months of February 2023 – January 2024, increased 2.7%, compared to 3.2% in the corresponding two -month comparison of February 2023 – January 2023 2024 with the twelve months of February 2022 – January 2023.
The highest ratings were recorded in the clothing and footwear category by 5.4%; In the category hotels-brown-restaurants by 5.1% and In the accommodation category by 4.6%mainly %due to the increase in housing rental prices, in home repair and maintenance services, electricity and gas, although part of the growth was offset by a decrease in mainly prices in heating oil and solid fuels.
Significant ratings were also made by the Health Group by 3.5%due to the increase in prices on medicinal products, medical products, medical-dental and paramedical services, hospital care, as well as 3.3%transfers, due to the increase in Price mainly in new cars, spare parts and accessories, fuels and lubricants.
More specifically, the increase in the General DTP by 2.7% in January 2025, compared to the corresponding index of January 2024, mainly came from the changes in the following groups of goods and services:
1. By increases in indicators by:
• 0.1% in the Nutrition and Non-Alcoholic Drinks Group, mainly due to rates in: beef, pork, fresh fish, dried fruits and nuts, frozen vegetables, sugar-chocolates-lumps, coffee-kakao-tsai, Mineral Water-Revisient-Fruit Supplies. Part of this increase was offset by the decrease of prices mainly in: bread and cereals, sausages, dairy and eggs, olive oil, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables.
• 0.8% in the group of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, mainly due to increased prices in alcoholic beverages (non -serving).
• 5.4% in the clothing and footwear group due to rising prices in clothing and footwear.
• 4.6% in the housing group, mainly due to rates of prices in: Home rentals, home repair and maintenance, electricity, gas. Part of this increase was offset by the decrease mainly of prices in: Heating oil, solid fuels.
• 3.5% in the Health Group, mainly due to prices increase in: medicinal products, medical products, medical dedication and paramedical services, hospital care.
• 3.3% in the Transport Group, due to rising prices in: new cars, spare parts and car accessories, fuel and lubricants, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, plane passenger transport tickets. Part of this increase was offset by the reduction of prices mainly in used cars.
• 1.2% in the Communications Group, mainly due to prices in telephone services.
• 1.3% in the recreation-cultural activities, mainly due to prices in: information processing equipment, small recreation-infrequisites-animal animals, recreational and cultural services, newspapers-books and stationery, holiday packages. Part of this increase was offset by the reduction of prices mainly in: audio and image processing equipment, constant recreation and culture goods.
• 2.6% in the Education Group, mainly due to prices increase in: Preschool and Primary Education Tuition, Secondary Education tuition.
• 5.1% in the hotels-brown-restaurant group, mainly due to prices in: restaurants-pastry shops-cafés, hotels-podel-panties.
• 2.3% in the group other goods and services, mainly due to raising prices in: Hairdressers and Personal Care Stores, other personal items, social protection services, health premiums, vehicle premiums, other services. Part of this increase was offset by the reduction of prices mainly in other types of individual care.
2. By the reductions of the indicators by:
• 0.2% in the group of constant household goods and services, mainly due to a reduction in prices in direct consumption of household consumption. Part of this reduction was offset by increasing prices mainly in: furniture and decorative items, home services.
