In detail 6 meters decided to support farmers – Returning to Rural Oil and damages for damage over 30%
The Ministry of Rural Development & Food has announced the summary of measures that have been decided to support farmers.
According to the announcement, the measures are 6 and relate to:
1. Return IFK to Rural Oil:
There is no 100 million euros in the state budget for the return of EFS. The total EFK for agricultural oil will be returned to the farmers according to the invoices to be submitted and the total amount of the refund can reach up to € 160 million.
The government is considering redefining the way EFK returns and adjust the amounts of fuel provided for in the real needs of each crop.
It is directly set up a working group by the Ministries of Finance and Rural Development, in cooperation with the relevant agencies and representatives of the farmers for the revision of indicators by cultivation.
2. Compensation for damage over 30% – crop support affected
· Measure 23 is activated for the orientation of additional resources by the Rural Development Program (RDP) in the compensation of producers who suffered losses of more than 30%. The crops that meet the criteria will be recorded in a list sent to the EU for approval to activate the compensation procedure as soon as possible. The support will be for crops that can substantiate balance loss.
3. Rural electricity
- Farmers are already enjoying a low current through the GAIA invoice for € 0.093 per kilowatt -hour, which is much lower than the cost of production of kilowatt in the wholesale market.
- Thousands of producers have been settled in 120 installments. In collaboration with the providers, the possibility of not issuing the account per month is to be issued to facilitate farmers in managing their finances.
- At the same time, solutions have already been launched with photovoltaics programs in the field and APOLLON, through the possibility of developing RES projects for energy offsetting farmers and GEV/ TOEB, ensuring even cheaper electricity for primary production.
4. Cotton – Connecting to Enhancement & Sustainable Cultivation
The support of cotton producers is reinforced by a special provision for € 31.7 per acre in the context of the effort to reduce carbon footprint as well as by reducing the ceiling to integrate into the affiliated aid status.
5. Support of livestock farming – replacement of animal capital
For the affected farmers from the plague and the smallpox, in addition to the high compensation for the animals that have been killed, the replacement of the animal capital is also launched through the activation of a measure of measure 5.2 (with 100% coverage for the affected farmers).
6. Infrastructure projects to support the primary sector
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport implements the following projects:
- Auction and implementing irrigation projects with a total budget of € 865 million throughout the territory. At the same time, it has auctioned and implemented studies of a total budget of € 50 million to mature new irrigation projects.
- Implement the irrigation projects received from the Ministry of Rural Development in July 2023, with a total budget of € 700 million.
- It has undertaken the implementation of road infrastructure rehabilitation projects in central Greece, with a total budget of € 900 million.
