Delta Air Lines has decided to raise the salary of most of its 75,000 employees. It is the first increase by the airline to its staff since 2019, before the pandemic, which sharply affected the sector.
In a statement signed by Delta CEO Ed Bastian, the company says that after the dark days of 2020, demand has started to grow again.
The salary increase comes as companies scramble to attract employees to meet the rebound in demand amid the US labor crisis and inflation.
In the text, in which he called employees heroes, Bastian says that the Covid era is over.
“We are entering a period where we are managing this virus rather than being managed by it,” he said.
Despite the optimism for 2022, Delta still says it expects losses this first quarter because of the omni.
