The initial capacity of the pipeline will be 1.5 billion cubic meters a year, but extending to 3 billion cubic meters a year, and studies have been carried out to adopt the appropriate requirements for the transfer of green hydrogen. The pipeline is expected to be set in the second half of 2027.

The governments of Northern Macedonia and Serbia have expressed interesting to continue this conductor toward the north. If this plan is implemented, Serbia could supply natural gas through Greece. Both Serbia and Northern Macedonia, up to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, were supplying almost exclusively natural gas from Russia.
