The Ministry of Infrastructure will proceed with the award of the North Road Axis (BOAK) in the near future. This is the Department of Heraklion -Chania to be constructed by concession.

The section Neapoli-Agios Nikolaos14.5 kilometers in length is implemented as a classic public project with a contractor by AKTOR. Both sections are possible to be completed in 2027 to 2028.
With the completion of the projects in all three sections, the new highway will have two lanes per direction and emergency lane (LEA), uneven nodes, motorists (SEAs). Tolls will operate in the concession section of Chania-Heraklion.
