The steady upward trend of Greek tourism and the government’s strategic initiatives to strengthen the industry was highlighted by the Minister of Tourism Ms. Olga Kefalogiannis, in her speech at the General Assembly of the Pan -Hellenic Federation of Hoteliers (POX).

The minister stressed that in 2024 it was the new landmark for Greek tourism, with revenue reaching 22 billion euros and pointed out the remarkable increases in arrivals and revenue during the winter and “lateral” months. According to the first 2025 figures, he added, this upward trend is continuing, with a significant increase in travel traffic and receipts since January.

Ms Kefalogiannis emphasized that tourism is a key pillar of the Greek economy and highlighted the importance of co -operation between the state and the private sector for its maintenance and further development.

“Tourism is not only economic factor, but also social, cultural and environmental. We must ensure that it is developing in terms of viability, offering benefits to all local communities, “he said characteristically, adding that this success is due to hard work, common and persistent efforts, businesses and tourism workers, and of course coordinated politics:

-The continuous upgrading of the quality of tourism services
-In the enhancement of infrastructure and the development of special forms of tourism
-The exploitation of digital technology to improve travel experience
-In the upgrading of tourism education and training

Referring to recent legislative interventions, the minister emphasized the importance of the Framework of Operating Surgery Surgery Real Estate, aimed at ensuring healthy competition in the hospitality market.

At the same time, it pointed out the importance of enhancing tourism entrepreneurship, with measures that facilitate investment and simplifying licensing processes.

Ms. Kefalogiannis was particularly emphasis on mountain tourism, where she presented the actions aimed at transforming ski resorts into twelve -month infrastructure, as well as the establishment of tourist destinations of sustainable mountain tourism.

Finally, he referred to the “Tourism for All” program, which continues with expanded participation criteria, more destination options and subsidy for increased amounts to benefit even more beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Tourism, Ms. Kefalogiannis pointed out, is next to the industry professionals, supporting initiatives that promote quality, innovation and sustainability, with the aim of consolidating Greece as one of the top tourist options in the world. Greek tourism will continue to be a key pillar of the economy and the driving force for the development of the country.

The POX General Assembly was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Tourism Ms. Anna Karamanlis, the Secretary General of Tourism Policy and Development Ms. Vasiliki Koutsoukou, the Secretary General of the EOT Mr. Andreas Fiorentinos and the President of the POX Mr. Yiannis Hatzis.
