This is the second consecutive month when price rise is receding, declining from 2.8% of February
Inflation in the United Kingdom stood at 2.6% last March, according to the latest data of the National Statistical Service (Ons), surpassing the forecasts of economists who expected 2.7%. This is the second consecutive month when price rise is receding, falling from 2.8% of February.
Inflation deceleration offers limited and probably short -term relief to British households, as increases announced in April at basic expenses, such as municipal taxes, energy and water accounts, are expected to push inflation of more than 3% by summer, according to summer estimates.
“Inflation has fallen again in March, due to various factors, such as falling fuel prices and the unchanged cost of foods compared to the increases in prices we saw last year,” explains Ons Economist Grand Fitnner: adding:
“The only significant compensation came from the prices of clothes, which increased strongly this month after the unusual decline in February.”
