The signing of a first agreement with the US on Ukrainian minerals announced Kiev on Thursday.

The announcement was made via X by the Ukrainian Finance Minister, saying that the road to a financial partnership agreement would also include the creation of an investment fund to rebuild the country.

Julia Svirdennko did not provide further details through “X”. Her post included photos of herself and US Finance Minister Scott Bessed, who signed separately.

The signing of the preliminary agreement comes after the episode of the Oval Office between Volodimir Zelenski, Donald Trump and Jay Di Vans.

Since then Ukrainian officials have worked to restore links with the White House, acknowledging that Kiev needs US support in its war with Russia.

The agreement on minerals is part of this effort, officials in Ukraine said, according to Reuters.

Trump said the deal itself could be signed next week, although the Ukrainian side did not give any indication of when it is expected to conclude the full agreement.

However, Kiev announced on Thursday that next week, Ukrainian Prime Minister Dennis Smichhal will travel to Washington “will meet with US Finance Minister Scott Bessed”. The negotiating groups aim to complete talks on an agreement by Saturday, April 26, according to the same source.

Ukraine and the US will launch a new round of negotiations on an agreement on minerals on April 24, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Finance said today on the country’s national broadcasting network.

“We are trying to resolve many technical issues online and in writing to limit them to the most sensitive issues that will demand a political decision,” Taras Katska said about the efforts made by the Ukrainian and the US team.

A Ukrainian delegation traveled to Washington at the end of last week for talks after the United States proposed a new, more expansive deal. An initial agreement was agreed, but it was never signed.

“We have an agreement on minerals, which I suppose will be signed on Thursday,” Trump told reporters at the White House earlier.

“We are still working on the details,” said Finance Minister Scott Bessed, who was sitting next to Trump at the Oval Office, adding that the signature can be made until next Friday.

“It is essentially what we have agreed in the past,” he said. “When the president was here, we had a Memorandum of Understanding. We went straight to the big case and I think it’s an 80 -page deal and we’ll sign. “

The White House did not respond to a request for more details on the timetable and content of the agreement.

Zelenski had stated that both sides could sign the Memorandum online.

“This is a memorandum of intentions. And we have positive, constructive intentions, “he told reporters in Kiev, adding that the US side had made the offer to sign the memorandum before the total agreement, which would require ratification by the Ukraine Parliament.
