A significant increase of EUR 2,405 billion was reported by private sector deposits in March 2025, after a € 1,701 billion reduction recorded last month.

In particular, according to Bank of Greece data, the annual rate of change of all deposits increased to 5.1% in March 2025, from 4.9% last month.

At the same time, the annual rate of change in total funding of the domestic economy rose slightly, as it increased to 6.9%, from 6.2% last month.

Funding of domestic economy

More specifically, with regard to the monthly net flow of total funding was positive by EUR 2,901 million in March 2025, against a negative net flow of € 7 million last month.

I.1 Funding of General Government

The monthly net flow of funding to the general government was positive by € 949 million, compared to a negative net flow of € 1,416 million last month. The annual rate of change in general government funding rose to 1.6% from -0.2% last month.

I.2 Private Sector Funding

The monthly net flow of total funding to the private sector was positive in March 2025, by € 1,952 million, against a positive net flow of € 1,409 million last month. The annual rate of change in total private sector funding decreased to 10.3% from 10.5% in the previous month.

I.2.1 Business Financing

More specifically, the monthly net flow of funding to businesses in March 2025 was positive by EUR 1,867 million, compared to a positive net flow of EUR 1,438 million last month, while the annual change rate decreased to 16.0% from 16.5% in the previous month.

In particular, the annual rate of change in non -financial funding (MSE) remained almost unchanged at 16.8% from 16.7% last month. The monthly net flow of their funding was positive by EUR 1,938 million, compared to a positive net flow of € 1,277 million last month.

The annual rate of change in funding for insurance companies and other financial institutions decreased to 10.0% from 14.6% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of their funding was negative of € 71 million, compared to a positive net flow of € 161 million last month.

I.2.2 Funding of freelancers, farmers and individual businesses

In the same month, the monthly net flow of funding to freelancers, farmers and individual businesses was positive by 33 million euros, against a positive net flow of € 4 million last month. Their annual rate of change in funding decreased to -0.1% from 0.2% in the previous month.

I.2.3 Funding of private and private non -profit institutions

Finally, the monthly net flow of funding to individuals and private non -profit institutions was positive, against a negative net flow of EUR 33 million last month. The annual rate of change in their funding remained unchanged at -0.5%.

Deposits of domestic economy in domestic credit institutions

In terms of deposits, the monthly net flow of all deposits was positive by EUR 1,359 million in March 2025, against a negative net flow of EUR 774 million in February 2025.

II.1 Deposits by the General Government

General government deposits decreased by EUR 1,046 million, up by € 928 million in the past month, and the annual change rate decreased to 12.1% from 15.3% in the previous month.

II.2 deposits from the private sector

In contrast, private sector deposits increased by EUR 2,405 million, compared to a reduction of EUR 1,701 million last month, while the annual change rate rose to 4.8% from 4.5% in the previous month.

II.2.1 Deposits by Business

More specifically, an increase of EUR 2,563 million was reported in March 2025, business deposits, compared to a reduction of EUR 1,306 million last month, and the annual rate of change increased to 11.9% from 9.4% in the previous month.

In particular, MXE deposits increased by EUR 2,436 million, compared to a reduction of EUR 1,259 million last month, while the deposits of insurance undertakings and other financial institutions increased by EUR 127 million, compared to a decrease of EUR 46 million last month.

II.2.2 deposits from households and private non -profit institutions

In contrast, a reduction of EUR 158 million was reported by household deposits and private non -profit institutions, compared to a decrease of EUR 396 million last month, while the annual rate of change decreased to 2.6% from 3.0% in the previous month.
