The Minister of Environment and Energy, Stavros Papastavrou, and head of the National Energy Council of Energy Council, Doug Bergam, met in Washington on Monday, May 12th. At the center of the two parties discussed Energy Security and cooperation between Greece and the US, while Mr Papastavrou underlined our country’s efforts to develop the hydrocarbon sector.
The two sides have agreed that Greek -American relations are stronger than ever under the leadership of President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“Minister Doug Bergam and I agree that our energy cooperation is crucial for the national security of our premises, as well as a cornerstone for the stability and prosperity of the Eastern Mediterranean”, The Greek Minister of Environment and Energy emphasized.
In addition, Mr Bergam, as head of the US National Council of Energy Sovereignty, welcomed Mr Papastavrou’s proposal to hold the next meeting of the Ministers of Transatlantic Cooperation (P-TECC) In November in Athens. It is noted that the proposal has been accepted on Friday, May 9, by US Energy Minister Chris Wright in a telephone conversation with Mr Papastavrou.
Completing his visit to Washington, Mr Papastavrou held successive meetings with the Senate of the Republican Party from Gaoming and Kansas, John Baraso and Jerry Morgan respectively, as well as with the Greek -American MP.
