The “sedimentation” of building activity throughout the country continued in February, as evidenced by the elements of the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

The number of building permits decreased by 21.9% annually, with the surface decreased by 33.3% and the volume by 15.6% over the same period compared to the corresponding month of 2024.

More specifically, the magnitude of the total building activity (private – public), in February, throughout the country, based on building permits issued, amounted to 2,142 building permits, corresponding to 419,752 m2 surface and 2,176,385 m3.

The private building activity issued, throughout the country, in the second month of the year, amounted to 2,120 construction licenses, corresponding to 409,040 m2 surface and 2,129,054 m3, showing a reduction of 22.1% in the number of building permits, a decrease of 33.3% and a reduction of 15.6% and a decrease of 15.6% and a decrease of 15.6%. month of 2024.

Regarding the issuing licenses of public building activity in February, throughout the country, they amounted to 22 building permits corresponding to 10,712 m2 surface and 47,331 m3.

The percentage of participation in public building activity in the total building volume for February 2025 is 2.2%.

Concerning the two months of January – February 2025, total building activity, throughout the country, reported 19.8% in the number of building permits, a decrease of 34.8% in surface area and a 25.7% reduction in volume, compared to the corresponding two months of the year 2024.

During the same period January – February 2025, private building activity, throughout the country, showed a 20.0% reduction in the number of building permits, a decrease of 35.0% on the surface and a 25.8% reduction in volume, compared to January – February 2024.

At 12 months, that is, from March 2024 to February 2025, the magnitude of the total building activity (private-public) based on the issued building permits, throughout the country, amounted to 30,029 building permits, corresponding to 6,905 m2 m2.

Compared to the corresponding period of March 2023 – February 2024 there was a 5.6% increase in the number of building permits, an increase of 5.3% in the surface and an increase of 1.3% in the volume.

During the same period, March 2024 – February 2025, private building activity, throughout the country, increased by 5.4% in the number of building permits issued, an increase of 4.9% on the surface and a marginal increase of 0.1% in volume, compared to the corresponding March 2023 – February 2024.

The percentage of participation in public building activity in the total building volume for the above period is 3.4%.
