European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday that she is determined to complete her term in the ECB, after speculation that she may leave prematurely to take on the role of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

‘I can tell you with certainty that I was always, and I am, absolutely determined to fulfill my mission and I am determined to complete my term of office »Lagarde categorically said at a regular press conference after the ECB’s decision to reduce interest rates.

He explained during a press conference that the decision to reduce interest rates to 2% from the ECB was based on a new estimate of inflation, the behavior of structural inflation and the functioning of the monetary policy transmission mechanism.

Lagarde clarified that almost all Euro bank officials agreed with the decision, with only one member of the Board of Directors expressing his disagreement.

According to the ECB president, investments in areas such as defense and infrastructure can support growth. However, they remain serious risks: The sharpening of global commercial tensions and the resulting uncertainty may adversely affect exports, investment and consumption in the eurozone.
