The deposits of the private sector increased by EUR 1.22 billion in May 2025, compared to a reduction of EUR 795 million last month, according to figures announced by the Bank of Greece. At the same time, the annual rate of change of all deposits increased to 5.0%, in May 2025, from 4.4% last month. It is also noted that the annual rate of change in total funding of the domestic economy decreased to 6.9%, in May 2025, from 7.2% last month.

I. funding of domestic economy
The monthly net flow of total funding was positive by EUR 298 million in May 2025, against a negative net flow of € 40 million last month.
I.1 Funding of General Government
The monthly net flow of funding to the General Government, in May 2025, was negative by 220m euros, compared to a positive net flow of € 58m last month. The annual rate of change in general government funding declined to 0.2% from 1.3% in the previous month.
I.2 Private Sector Funding
In May 2025, the annual rate of change in total private sector funding increased to 11.3% from 10.9% last month. The monthly net flow of total funding to the private sector was positive by EUR 518 million, compared to a negative net flow of € 98 million last month.
I.2.1 Business Financing
The monthly net flow of funding to businesses, in May 2025, was positive by € 471 million, compared to a negative net flow of € 94 million last month, and the annual rate of change increased to 17.5% from 17.0% in the previous month. In particular, the annual rate of change in non -financial funding (MSE) increased to 17.4% from 17.2% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of their funding was positive by € 204 million, against a negative net flow of € 92 million last month. The annual rate of change in funding for insurance companies and other financial institutions increased to 18.2% from 15.5% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of their funding was positive by EUR 267 million, against a negative net flow of € 2 million last month.
I.2.2 Funding of freelancers, farmers and individual businesses
In May 2025, the monthly net flow of funding to freelancers, farmers and individual businesses was negative by 6m euros, against a negative net flow of € 34m last month. The annual rate of change in their funding stood at -0.3%, unchanged compared to the previous month.
I.2.3 Funding of private and private non -profit institutions
Positive by EUR 53 million was the monthly net flow of funding to individuals and private non -profit institutions, in May 2025, against a positive net flow of € 30 million last month. The annual rate of change in their funding stood at -0.1% from -0.3% last month.
Ii. Deposits of domestic economy in domestic credit institutions
The monthly net flow of all deposits was positive by EUR 1,525 million in May 2025, against a negative net flow of EUR 1,097 million in April 2025.
II.1 Deposits by the General Government
An increase of 302m euros in May 2025 reported the general government’s deposits against a reduction of EUR 302 million last month, and the annual rate of change increased to 15.2% from 11.8% in the previous month.
II.2 deposits from the private sector
Private sector deposits increased by EUR 1,222 million in May 2025, compared to a reduction of EUR 795 million last month, while the annual rate of change increased to 4.7% from 4.2% in the previous month.
II.2.1 Deposits by Business
An increase of EUR 867 million was reported in May 2025, business deposits, compared to a reduction of EUR 1,145 million last month, and the annual rate of change increased to 9.8% from 9.3% last month. In particular, MXE deposits increased by EUR 666 million, against a reduction of EUR 1,161 million last month. Deposits of insurance companies and other financial institutions increased by EUR 200 million, compared to an increase of EUR 16 million last month.
II.2.2 deposits from households and private non -profit institutions
An increase of EUR 356 million was reported in May 2025, household deposits and private non -profit institutions, compared to an increase of EUR 350 million last month, and the annual rate of change increased to 3.0% from 2.6% in the previous month.
