The Hellenic Chips Competence Center is one of the 30 corresponding centers created pan -European, with the aim of enhancing Europe’s technological autonomy in this critical sector. Its official launch marks a new era for innovation and technological progress in Greece.

He referred to the investment of Galli’s production in Greece, which is the basic raw material for the manufacture of semiconductors, with our country covering all of the required quantity for the whole of Europe, while continuing to say: “We unite our forces with the industry and involving the sectors where we already have a powerful and powerful industry – Defense industry – to use semiconductor applications in industrial automation, supply chain management and high reliability technologies required by modern markets. “

It is a non -profit partnership of Hetia (which represents companies operating in Greece in the semiconductor and microcircuit sector -from small startups to large multinationals) and almost all Greek research centers and academic institutions with active presence in the field.

Semiconductors are fundamental materials for the production of integrated circuits or microcircuits (“chips”). Chips are tiny electronic circuits that are almost everywhere: on computers, smart mobile phones, vehicles, medical devices and communication networks.

The international lack of chips during the Covid-19 pandemic (2020-2021) highlighted the need to restore design, growth and production in the West. In response, the European Union introduced the European act on microcircuits in September 2023, following the US example, aimed at enhancing its technological autonomy and sovereignty.
