US President Donald Trump called on Wednesday by the US Federal Bank (FED) member Lisa Cook to resign, citing a request by the head of the US Federal Housing Funding Service (FHFA) Reuters.

Fed and Cook representatives were not readily available to respond to a comment request.

“Cook must resign, now !!!” Trump wrote in a post on social media, in yet another comment aimed at restructuring the composition of the US Central Bank.

FHFA director Bill Pult launched the charges in a post on X earlier on Wednesday, saying that Cook had set an apartment in Atlanta as a main residence after receiving a loan for her home in Michigan, which she had also stated as a main house.

Pult also published part of his letter to US Public Prosecutor Pam Bodi, stating that FHFA had acquired the Cook’s mortgage documents and citing the two loans from June and July 2021.

“He has to resign, because what he did is a reason for dismissal,” he wrote in a separate post.

Trump has repeatedly criticized the Fed and its president, Jerome Powell for interest rates. It has also repeatedly “flirted” with its removal, as it seeks to remodel the central bank.
