The abolition of the mandatory printing of the toll proof is proceeded by the Independent Public Revenue Authority, with the aim of reducing paper use, environmental protection and accelerating toll transit.
In particular, in a circular by the Governor of AADE (E.2087/2025), George Pitsilis, it is clarified that in private motorways or toll bridges, the printing of the proof of services is no longer mandatory. The receipt is normally issued, but is not printed if the driver selects it, after being informed of this.
This arrangement gives a solution to a chronic environmental issue, in which all citizens have become societies on the Greek roads – the rejection by the printed evidence drivers on the road, shortly after they cross the toll station.
At the same time, this initiative has a direct positive impact on drivers, as it is expected to significantly reduce the time of passing and waiting for tolls, especially in times of increased traffic, thereby contributing to the blockage of the road network.
Finally, it is recalled that, under Decision A.1066/2025 of its Commander, AADE receives a regular basis from the concessionaires of the motorways encrypted electronic files with the passages of the passages (vehicle registration numbers per day as well as the only passage number),
