By decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasisthe first seven Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) of the country are included in the actions to strengthen and promote gender equality and combat all forms of discrimination and exclusion, as well as the further upgrading of the services of the relevant Psychological and Counseling Support Centers.
The action, total public expenditure 12,000,000 eurosis part of the NSRF Program “Human Resources and Social Cohesion 2021-2027”.
As part of the action, it is expected to be implemented in each HEI:
- Establishment and operation of the Support Office of the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee
- Development and implementation of innovative methods of organizing work and administrative processes with the aim of creating a gender inclusive culture
- Actions to collect data related to gender in the university community of each HEI, information and training in the use of inclusive language, inclusion of the gender dimension in the study programs
- Compilation of related guides and toolkit
- Actions that facilitate the balanced participation of women and men in the decision-making centers of HEIs, but also the smooth and equal advancement of men and women in the academic hierarchy
- Actions to combat sexual violence and harassment.
The first seven operations, with a budget of 4,250,000 euros, concern: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Macedonia, University of Western Macedonia, Democritus University of Thrace, University of Western Attica, University of Patras and University Crete.
The process of submission of evaluation and inclusion in the action continues with the aim of the inclusion of all HEIs of the country.
