The Piraeus Chamber of Commerce expressed its concern about the imminent implementation of the measure that makes it mandatory for all businesses to accept payments through the IRIS system, from November 1, 2025.

It is recalled that businesses should interface with IRIS through POS terminals or QR codes, connected to a tax mechanism or electronic invoicing provider.

At the same time, the prescribed fines for non-compliance reach 10,000 euros for businesses with simple books and 20,000 euros for businesses with double books, despite the fact that neither the banks nor the AADE have completed the necessary technical infrastructure and instructions.

The president of the Piraeus Trade Association, Thodoris Kapralos, said: “The digital transition of transactions is necessary, but it cannot be done at the expense of businesses. When banks and AADE are not yet ready, fines of 10,000 euros or 20,000 euros cannot be imposed on professionals. We ask for realism, coordination and clarity in implementation.”

The Piraeus Chamber of Commerce requests:

• Immediate issuance of the relevant AADE Decision,

• official notification of banks and businesses and

• extension of the application deadline, so that the transition to the new system is made with technical safety and fair conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises.
