PT’s president, Gleisi Hoffmann, will participate in a dinner with clients of the Terra Investimentos brokerage firm on the 18th, at the Fasano restaurant, in São Paulo.
The meeting will be restricted, with places reserved only for the main investors that work with the company.
When questioned, Terra confirmed the information.
The column found that, so far, 14 brokerage clients have been invited to the dinner.
Gleisi should take an economic adviser with her.
For a few weeks the PT has been intensifying its contacts with businessmen and members of the financial market. The idea is to open up dialogue and cut corners with the sector, which is currently refractory to the party.
With Lula ahead in the polls, a queue of requests formed to find him. The former president, however, has only held occasional meetings, and opened the agenda only to businessmen he has known for a long time, such as Abilio Diniz, from Carrefour, and José Seripieri Jr, from Qualicorp.
Gleisi, on the other hand, began to accept some invitations, including for broader meetings.
On Monday (4), she participated in a dinner with 30 people organized by Esfera Brasil in SP.
In addition to the group’s president, João Carlos Camargo, businessmen such as Cândido Pinheiro (Hapvida), Flávio Rocha (Riachuelo) and Eugênio Mattar (Localiza) were present.
The PT president took with her economist Gabriel Galípolo, former CEO of Banco Fator who became part of the group closest to Lula in the economic area.
The atmosphere was one of open dialogue, but with clear divergences, especially in relation to a possible reform of labor legislation under a PT government.
Gleisi sought to emphasize that Lula is a leader open to dialogue and said that the conduct of the economy in a PT government will be exclusively his.
Some businessmen who were at the meeting, such as Abilio Diniz, put the economic crisis in Brazil into perspective.
For him, the economy is “walking”, and high inflation is a phenomenon that penalizes even developing economies.
Galípolo made the counterpoint by stating that the country is reaching “double-digit inflation, double-digit interest rates and double-digit unemployment.”
He also said that Brazil is at the lowest of the historical series of worker’s income, and also of savings. People are in debt on their credit card for grocery shopping and, secondly, to pay their house bills.
