The Holy Week is expected to open the online platform for fuel subsidiesaccording to information from skai.gr, as the issuance of the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) is still pending, as well as the relevant invitation to the banks for the digital prepaid card.
THE application process It is very simple and will be done through the special platform prepared by the Ministry of Digital Government.
In detail, the beneficiary after authentication with Taxisnet personal codesenters the application that will be available at gov.gr and requests either the issuance of the digital debit card and the credit of the money amount in it or the credit in the bank account.
The applicant fills in and updates the contact details and in particular the e-mail address, the mobile phone number and the bank account number.
To verify his datathe information system of the application interacts with the Tax Registry and the Registry of Cars of AADE for the control of the ownership of private use of vehicle and motorcycle, insurance and payment of traffic fees.
After the completion of the beneficiary’s application and if the criteria are met, the beneficiary’s details are sent to the bank, in particular the name, surname, e-mail address and mobile phone number, which are necessary for the issuance of the digital card.
The money is then credited to the credit or debit card and can be used exclusively by the beneficiary to purchase fuel, while any transfer to or withdrawal from a third party is not possible.
It is reminded that according to an amendment that has been voted in the Parliament, for those who use the digital prepaid card, a bonus of up to 5 euros is provided in fuel subsidy.
Beneficiaries and amount of subsidy
Beneficiaries of the petrol subsidy are any natural person, including self-employed persons, who are tax residents of Greece with a declared family income of fiscal year 2020 up to 30,000 eurosto cover part of the cost of fuel consumption in April, May and June 2022.
The financial support for this quarter will amount to a total of the following amounts:
a) 50 euros for beneficiaries – owners of vehicles (excluding motorcycles – mopeds) with main residence in the Regions of North Aegean, South Aegean, Ionian Islands, Crete, in the Peripheral Unit of Islands of the Attica Region and in the Peripheral Unit of the Region of Spora
b) 40 euros for beneficiaries – owners of vehicles (excluding motorcycles – mopeds) with main residence in the rest of Greece,
c) 35 euros for beneficiaries – owners of motorcycles – mopeds, with residence in the Regions of North Aegean, South Aegean, Ionian Islands, Crete, in the Regional Unit of Islands of the Attica Region and in the Regional Unit of Sporades and the Region of Thessaly,
d) 30 euros for beneficiaries – owners of motorcycles – mopeds, with main residence in the rest of Greece.
According to the regulation, each vehicle and motorcycle – moped can be declared by a single natural person, who also has full ownership or co-ownership or is a lessee under a leasing contract. It is noted that each natural person can declare only one vehicle and a motorcycle – moped. A prerequisite is that the motorcycle-moped vehicle is in circulation, is insured and does not owe traffic fees.
As stated in the amendment, this financial support is tax-free, inalienable and unsecured in the hands of the State or third parties, by way of derogation from any general and special provision, is not subject to any withholding, fee or levy, is not bound and is not offset by certified debts to the tax administration and the State in general, the municipalities, the regions, the insurance funds or the credit institutions and it is not calculated in the income limits for the payment of any social or welfare benefit.
Regarding the digital debit card that is issued, it remains activated until 31.7.2022 and after its end, it will be abolished. The remaining balance of it is returned to the Greek State and its further search by the beneficiary is excluded.
A joint decision of the Ministers of Finance, Development and Investment and Digital Government determines the start time and any other necessary details for the implementation of this, while the same decision may increase the amount of aid up to 5 euros for beneficiaries who choose the use of a digital debit card.
