The first consolidation of the results of Covid self-tests carried out in Brazil will be released this Monday (11) by the pharmaceutical retail association Abrafarma with an incidence of almost 80% of positive diagnoses.
The number is high compared to the current level of 15% of positives recorded in the last measurement of rapid tests carried out at the drugstores last month.
The difference seems to be indicative of the positioning that the product has taken on the market, that is, apparently the self-test has been used mostly by symptomatic people or patients in the follow-up phase of the recovery of the disease.
The monitoring of self-tests carried out by Abrafarma, in partnership with CBDL (Brazilian Chamber of Laboratory Diagnosis), is based on the notification of consumers themselves, who report the result through an application accessed by the QR Code printed on the self-test package.
According to the survey in March data, which corresponds to 25,000 patients aged between 14 and 80, SĂ£o Paulo concentrates more than 40% of the results recorded, followed by Rio Grande do Sul (16.5%) and Minas Gerais (12%).
The states with a positive diagnosis index above the national average were Rio de Janeiro (96%), Santa Catarina (91%), CearĂ¡ (88%) and SĂ£o Paulo (84%).
