Recent lockdowns in China are causing a new upheaval in the supply chain – mainly in Shanghai-, with companies now in Greece looking as if they are between stones.
Before the normalization of the situation from the disruptions in the supply chain that started last year and were due to the abrupt restart of the world economy, and while since the end of February the crisis in Ukraine has caused new problems, now the delays in order deliveries from China.
According to the president of the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEP) Mr. Vassilis Korkidis, the delays in the delivery of orders reach up to 14 days, without excluding the possibility that the situation will worsen if they last for a long time at most strict restrictive measures in China.
The biggest problems in terms of delays are identified, according to market players who spoke to “K”, in the clothing – footwear sector, as well as in hotel equipment.
Although for the time being there is no question of shortages, they do not rule out that such a thing could happen if the lockdown in Shanghai lasts for a long time, given that -because of the previous disturbances but also the very large price increases that had been recorded since last year- stocks of most businesses are lower.
