AADE: The reports about the suspension of payments are out of reality

by

“The conclusions about the ‘stoppage of payments’ by the citizens are unrealistic”, the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) emphasizes in its announcement, referring to the Tax and Customs Administration Monitoring data for February 2022, as well as to the publications that followed notes AADE are talking about “alleged” explosion “of overdue debts to the tax administration in the aforementioned month.”

According to the announcement of AADE, the following are emphasized:

“A careful reading of yesterday’s data of AADE is enough to prove that conclusions about” stop payments “by citizens are unrealistic and ignore the official data.

The truth is that in February 2021 overdue debts of 974 million euros were created.

In February 2022 there is an increase in overdue debts to 1.7 billion euros.

With the difference that – as it is emphasized in yesterday’s announcement of AADE – the 800 million euros concern a single Tax Identification Number, ie a single debtor.

Therefore, if this amount is deducted, the overdue debts are at exactly the same levels as last year.

In addition, based on the official information of AADE, in the two months of January-February 2022, 73 million euros more were collected from overdue debts than in the corresponding period last year “.

And the announcement of AADE concludes “after all, the regulatory framework of 120 installments, the possibility of reintegration into it for those who lost it during the pandemic and the new regulatory framework of 36 or 72 installments for the debts created during the pandemic, gave the ability for citizens to settle their debts. “The government facilitates and will continue to facilitate the citizens.”
