The standard operation carried out by tax auditors from the Federal Revenue is causing a ripple effect on the waiting time for the release of goods at the port of Santos (SP), also affecting products considered essential.
According to Sindifisco Nacional (auditors’ union), since the beginning of the operation, almost five months ago, medicines, live loads, on-board consumption supplies and short-term perishables continue to be released normally by servers. The others went from about 24 hours to 20 days.
In a note released this Sunday (17), the auditors’ union says that, according to Sindustrigo (the sector’s industry union), “the delay in releasing the cereal can affect the grinding of the grain in São Paulo and lead to an increase in the price of bread.”
The union says that a delay in the release of wheat loads, reported by the industry in the sector, may have been caused by this ripple effect, which has generated accumulation of other goods, such as auto parts and appliances.
The hypothesis raised by Sindifisco for the delay in the release of wheat – about 38 thousand tons would be stopped – is that the accumulation of loads in the queue is resulting in a lack of storage space in the port of Santos.
