Banks close for Tiradentes, but open on Friday

Bank agencies will be closed this Thursday (21), Tiradentes’ national holiday, but will have normal service on Friday (22).

According to Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks), self-service areas with ATMs will be available during the holiday, as well as service channels by phone, cell phone and computer.

ACCOUNTS DEFERRED BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAY

Consumption bills (water, energy, telephone, etc.) and bills due on April 21st can be paid, without surcharge, on the next business day — that is, on Friday, April 22nd.

Usually, taxes already come with dates adjusted to the calendar of national, state and municipal holidays. If this has not occurred in the collection document, Febraban’s suggestion is to advance payment or, in the case of securities that have a bar code, schedule advance payment at ATMs, internet banking and via bank telephone service.

EXTRAORDINARY FGTS, SALARY ALLOWANCE AND UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

National holidays do not change the calendar for the extraordinary withdrawal of the FGTS (Fundo de Garantia do Tempo de Serviço). The schedule to withdraw up to R$ 1,000 starts on the Wednesday (20) before the Tiradentes holiday, for those born in January, and resumes only on April 30, for those born in February.

Caixa Econômica Federal reported that the closing of branches on holidays does not affect the withdrawal of the PIS salary bonus or unemployment insurance, which can be done through ATMs.

Banco do Brasil said that it is not possible to withdraw the Pasep allowance on holidays because withdrawals at ATMs are made through TED (Electronic Transfer Available), which can only be sent on business days.

Payment of Auxílio Brasil, as usual, is scheduled for working days only. The April calendar started on the 14th and ends on the 29th, according to the final digit of the NIS (Social Identification Number).
