Overdue main pensions in NAT were zeroed. He presented this positive development together with the planning for the final elimination of both the pending auxiliary and the lump sums to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kosti Hatzidakithe president of NAT Konstantinos Tsagaropoulos, during his first visit to the Naval Retreat Fund in Piraeus.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, NAT was, until recently, included in the most problematic Funds with the longest delays in granting pensions. Outstanding main pensions in February 2021 amounted to 3,100, while only 12 overdue main pensions are currently being settled. In addition, NAT employees have been able to issue new pensions within 90 days, without them becoming overdue.
In order to achieve the above objectives, a network of actions was launched and implemented in the last 12 months at administrative, organizational, digital and logistical level.
Specifically, as indicated in the announcement:
“1) Legislative interventions simplified the award procedure for individual categories of insured, where their pensions were pending for years. The example of the 444 widows of sailors is typical, where some of them waited for six years for their final pension. The problem was finally solved.
2) There was a redeployment of human resources and a better division of labor among employees. In particular, the pension departments were strengthened with additional people, 20 people were employed, through subsidized work from the OAED 55-67 program, who were hired with specific requirements of previous service-experience, while an internal helpdesk was set up by 12 NAT employees to help in processing work, telephone communication with insured persons, and even obtaining supporting documents from the door of their house.
3) There has been a significant upgrade of computer equipment and software. 35% of obsolete hardware and software (Windows 98) was immediately replaced and 50% upgraded. The remaining 15% are eight years old, so it was considered sufficient.
4) The “problematic” files were identified through field research and procedures and ways of solving the problems were analyzed. At the same time, controls that did not have a significant impact were abolished, while a control procedure was followed simultaneously with the processing of the file.
5) A “mini Control Tower” was developed within NAT to monitor the continuous flow of productivity per management, department and employee.
6) NAT interconnection projects with other public bodies were implemented. NAT has given access to all the relevant bodies. The acceleration brought about by the interconnection with the Maritime Registry Service of the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy is spectacular.
7) Productivity premium was established for the first time for efficient employees. Two-thirds of the employees participated in this, at their own request.
Now, all the weight is thrown to the final elimination of the stock of pending auxiliaries, which currently amount to 831, but also the lump sums, which currently amount to 345.
The goal of the NAT Management is for all the outstanding issues to be cleared by the end of September.
In addition, by the end of May, NAT is going to join the bodies covered by the single service number 1555 “.
THE Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Kostis Hatzidakissaid: “NAT leaves behind the” mountain “of pending main pensions and aims to permanently eliminate both outstanding and lump sums by the end of September. The progress that has been made is impressive. Out of 3,100 outstanding main pensions at the beginning of 2021, only 12 overdue pensions are currently pending, which will also be given in the near future. This progress was made, thanks to the better utilization, but also to the mobilization of human resources, to the interoperability of the NAT systems with those of the Ministry of Shipping, to the better internal organization, but also to the control of the efficiency of those involved in the award process. With organization, goal setting and perseverance, even those battles that, until yesterday, were considered lost today are won “.
For his part, o president of NAT Konstantinos Tsagaropoulos, noted: “We are not here today to celebrate success in the obvious. We are today in this historic building of Piraeus, in NAT, the Organization that is intertwined with the progress of Greek shipping, to confirm that the sincere, selfless and systematic effort of employees, executives and political leadership in any public organization , can bring immediate, concrete and tangible results for the benefit of society and citizens. Minister, a year ago, you honored me with your choice. You gave me instructions and directions for quick results. NAT must act as a lever for the development of seamanship. But first he must regain the trust of the insured and their families. We started from the obvious. We closed thousands of cases, launched the automation of procedures, the facilitation of the insured. Today, we are ready for the next step. NAT must be the springboard for the evolution of the Greek navy into a modern competitive machine for the production of social wealth. Everything that happened in one year is not a magic solution. It is the self-evident implemented political will “.
