Panel SA: Former Bolsonaro secretary says he was stopped by the IRS for not having invoice for 2 cell phones

by

Businessman Salim Mattar, founder of Localiza, took to social media this Thursday (28) to criticize the Federal Revenue bureaucracy. He said he was stopped by the agency at the airport as he disembarked from a flight from Santiago.

“Arriving from Chile, after a work trip, I was barred from the Federal Revenue for having two cell phones (one Tim and one Vivo) and not having the purchase invoice. Who will carry the invoice in their pocket? the lives of exactly whom they were supposed to serve, the citizens,” wrote Mattar.

The businessman, who was secretary of Privatization in the Bolsonaro government, left office in 2020 complaining about the difficulty in winning over the establishment. After that, he began to demonstrate almost daily on social media to complain about the bureaucracy.

In the messages in which he described the episode with the Revenue on his social networks, Mattar says he was in Santiago for a meeting with Sebastián Piñera, the former president of Chile who handed over the post to leftist Gabriel Boric in March.

Sought by the SA Panel, Mattar did not respond. The IRS says it cannot comment on cases or decisions that involve specific taxpayers.
