The change of the Minister of Mines and Energy this Wednesday (11) was seen by truck drivers as a gesture by the Bolsonaro government to stage an attempt to change in the face of the fuel price crisis in an election year.
The change was just to buy time, according to Wallace Landim, the Chorão, president of Abrava (Brazilian Association of Motor Vehicle Drivers) and one of the leaders of the 2018 strike.
“We arrived at the opinion of the majority that it is only to gain time”, says Chorão. He says he sees a tendency among drivers to give up the activity due to pressure not only on the price of diesel, but also on tire maintenance, lubricating oil and grease.
PlÃnio Dias, president of the CNTRC (National Council for Road Cargo Transport), another leader in the category, also does not see the possibility of the government being able to contain the rise in the bomb.
“If there’s a minister who is there and can’t solve it, it’s because it’s not up to his portfolio. Why will the other one arrive and be able to? This confuses people’s minds. . According to him, drivers in some regions are considering stopping activities, such as EspÃrito Santo.
The change of minister takes place days after Petrobras announced a new adjustment in the price of diesel. Last Monday (9), the company reported that the average price of fuel would rise by 8.87% at refineries.
