Federal police will stop for an hour for restructuring promised by Bolsonaro

by

Federal police officers scheduled a stoppage for 1 hour for this Thursday (12) in another mobilization action against the failure to fulfill the Bolsonaro government’s promise to restructure federal security careers.

The stoppage is scheduled at times defined by each PF unit and police officers must expose banners in which they will charge the government for the promise made after the category about setbacks with the pension reform and Emergency PEC.

In Rio de Janeiro, the act is scheduled to take place at Santos Dumont International Airport, at 10 am. In São Paulo, the strike is scheduled for 11 am and in Brasília it will be at 10 am, in front of the regional superintendencies.

Tension between the police and the government has increased in recent weeks since the signaling of the linear announcement of 5% for all federal careers, which derails the promise of restructuring made by the government when it set aside R$ 1.7 billion of the budget last year.

On Wednesday (11), President Jair Bolsonaro and Justice Minister Anderson Torres did not attend the closing ceremony of the training course for 494 new federal police officers.

The absence was credited behind the scenes to the bad atmosphere between the government and federal police installed by the lack of fulfillment of the promise of restructuring.

The ADPF (National Association of Federal Police Delegates) asked, in an assembly of its members last week, the resignation of Torres.

The Ministry of Justice credited Torres with the absence of unforeseen agendas, due to work and said that the situation between the minister and the president “is still excellent and there is no unpleasantness with the PF”.

In social networks, political opponents of the president, such as deputy Joice Hasselmann (PSDB-SP) related the absence to the crisis of the government with the category.

“As expected, Bolsonaro ran away from the graduation of the Federal Police students today. The fear of receiving boos and being charged for broken promises”, tweeted the deputy.

Bolsonaro during his term attended at least two federal police graduations. One in December 2021 and one in November 2019.

The repeated failure to fulfill promises by the Bolsonaro government has angered the federal police.

Among delegates, experts and agents, the signal that they will not restructure their careers is seen as another setback imposed by the government that was elected with the banner of defense and valorization of the police.

In addition to the restructuring, they cite the losses with the increase in the contribution rate imposed by the Social Security reform and the Emergency PEC, approved in March 2021 with the support of the government base, which provides for a trigger for a salary freeze and a ban on progression in the career and new hires whenever a state of calamity is declared or when the ratio between current expenses and current income reaches 95%.

This Wednesday (11), in an attempt to reverse the crisis, the government’s base supported the vote on a provisional measure that changes the allocation of resources from Funapol (Fund for the Equipment and Operationalization of the Federal Police’s core activities) and which provides for the possibility for an agent to receive cash payment for being on call.

The MP changes the device and provides for the allocation of up to 50% of the resources in transport, hosting and feeding servers on official mission. The money can also be used for health and payment of compensation to the PF employee who voluntarily fails to fully enjoy paid rest, remaining available for the service.

Today, that police officer only has the option of taking the day off. With the MP, he can choose to be on call and receive cash. The intention is to try to increase the number of personnel available for police operations, even if the option for the benefit is voluntary.
