Bolsonaro promises solution soon for loss of server income

by

Faced with the dissatisfaction of public servants with the 5% readjustment offered by the federal government, President Jair Bolsonaro said this Tuesday (17) that he regrets the loss of the civil service’s purchasing power and promised a recovery “soon”. Bolsonaro did not talk about a salary adjustment, but said that there will be an improvement in purchasing power, especially for the Federal Highway Police.

“We regret the loss of purchasing power because of the stay at home policy, the economy we’ll see later, and a war outside. But we are returning to normality. We regret the purchasing power of public servants, but I’m sure that soon this will be recovered, especially the Federal Highway Police, which is accompanying us at this moment”, he said, in a speech in the city of Propiá, in Sergipe, where the duplication of a 40-kilometer stretch of the BR 101 was inaugurated.

The president also praised measures such as tax cuts and the creation of Pix, the instant payments system created in 2020. Bolsonaro, however, said that any user who operates on Pix would become a micro-entrepreneur.

“In addition to reducing taxes on various products of the basic food basket and zeroing the tax on diesel oil, we also created Pix, where anyone who happens to operate Pix becomes a micro-entrepreneur. and problems, achievements”, he said.

According to data from the Central Bank website, Pix has more than 126.5 million registered users.

Micro-enterprises have annual revenues of up to R$360,000 and employ up to 9 people in commerce and services or 19 people in the industrial sector.

Bolsonaro planned to give readjustments, in this election year, only to the Federal and Federal Highway Police, which he considers part of his electoral base. However, the reaction of civil servants in several areas, who went on strike – especially the Central Bank – forced the government to distribute the resources provided for in the Budget to all civil servants, which led to a readjustment of only 5% .

The decision, however, continued not to please, as it did not even replace the inflation of the last 12 months, and even fueled a revolt in the PF, which demands the restructuring of the career – with corresponding salary increases – promised by Bolsonaro.

Because of the October general elections, the government is prohibited by law from granting higher-than-inflation readjustments to civil servants.
