The philanthropy network Open Society Foundation, owned by billionaire George Soros, named USP professor Laura Carvalho as the organization’s first director of equity.
Together with a global team, Carvalho will lead inclusion strategies for people of different origins, covering areas such as public service, drug and anti-corruption policies and refugee rights.
The group’s priorities, according to the Open Society Foundation, involve themes of justice and intersectionality, expression and climate.
Carvalho assumes the post in June.
