The cold wave that started this week has already heated the sale of warmers to dog clothes.
At Mercado Livre, the demand for warm clothes was already on the rise. Between May 9 and 18, boots, jackets and coats were among the top ten most searched items in the platform’s fashion section.
Demand for heaters on the marketplace grew by nearly 290% between May 11-17 compared to the previous week.
At Americanas SA, owner of Submarino and Shoptime, sales of the product rose 1,200% in the month-to-month comparison with the equivalent period in April. The number of heaters sold by Magazine Luiza between last Sunday and this Wednesday (18) grew 380% compared to the same period in 2021.
Between April and May, the Petz network says it had an increase of more than 80% in sales of winter items for pets, such as clothes, beds and blankets for the animals. This week, clothing sales grew 40% compared to the same period last year.
According to Fernando Pimentel, president of Abit (Textile Industry Association), the cold wave raises expectations of new retail orders.
He says that the apparel retailer is working with reduced inventories because of economic uncertainties, but has reported good results – which should come to the industry.
