ONS reduces rainfall forecast at hydroelectric plants in November

The ONS (National Electric System Operator) reduced the rainfall forecast for the hydroelectric areas in the country, starting to see volumes slightly below the historical average in the Southeast and Midwest, where the main reservoirs in Brazil are located, which suffered this year with the biggest drought in over 90 years.

Rainfall in the Southeast/Midwest is now estimated at 98% of the historical average in November, up from 112% in the previous week’s report.

In relation to the reservoirs, the projection is that they will reach the end of the month with 19.8% of their capacity in the Southeast/Midwest region, against a projection of 21.3% made last week.

The ONS also reduced the expectation of rainfall in hydroelectric plants in other regions of the country.

In the Northeast, the ONS pointed volumes at 83% of the historical average in November, compared to 89% in the previous week’s forecast.

For the South, the projection was also reduced to 59% of the historical average in November, down from 61% in the previous week’s report, while in the North the forecast is now 176% of the average, against 189% previously.

With regard to the energy load, the ONS started to see a drop of 0.2% in Brazil in November, against an increase of 0.8% in last week’s estimate.
