What to expect for the electricity bill in the coming months; listen to podcast

by

The relief in the value of the electricity bill felt by Brazilians with the end of the water scarcity tariff flag, announced in April, should be short-lived. Energy distributors across the country are preparing readjustments for the coming months that can exceed 20% — as in Ceará, where the increase already announced was 25%.

In response, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), pressures the Jair Bolsonaro government for a solution to avoid expressive increases in an election year – and has already announced that he can vote on a project to suspend energy tariff readjustments in all of Brazil.

Meanwhile, the sector is also looking forward to the next steps in the privatization of Eletrobras, which was approved on Wednesday (18) by the TCU (Union Court of Auditors).

In this Friday’s episode (20), Café da Manhã talks with the columnist of Sheet Vinicius Torres Freire. He explains what should weigh in the definition of the next readjustments, the risks of the project under discussion in Congress and the long-term effects of the privatization of Eletrobras.
