The trainee program launched by Magalu in 2020 was a milestone in the recruitment market, which led other companies to adopt similar models, with all or part of the vacancies reserved for black professionals, but the effect is still considered low for the diversity in the environment according to experts.
“A company that does not yet have a quota cannot consider itself anti-racist”, says Eduardo Migliano, founder of the 99jobs recruitment platform, which this year reached 50% of the hiring projects with a quota.
In 2018, this level was around 4% and rose to 14% in 2020, after the murders of George Floyd and João Alberto. Companies from various sectors have launched trainee programs to attract young black professionals such as MRV, Yduqs, L’Oréal, GM and others.
