Meghan Markle’s father leaves hospital after stroke: ‘Lucky to be alive’

by

Thomas Markle, 77, the father of Meghan Markle, 40, was discharged from the hospital on Saturday night, five days after suffering a stroke. “I am immensely grateful and I know how lucky I am to be alive,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I want to thank everyone, especially the wonderful doctors and nurses who saved my life. They are angels,” continued the TV lighting director. He stated that he received many positive messages and that he was “deeply moved” by all the affection.

The paper also reported that Markle shared the message by writing on a whiteboard with a felt-tip pen as the stroke impacted his speech. “I can’t speak right now, but I’m working hard and will thank people properly when I can.”

Thomas Markle Jr., 55, the son of Thomas, said he was traveling when he learned his father had been hospitalized. “I will be here for Dad and I will do whatever it takes to help him on his road to recovery. It was a terrible shock for everyone, but Dad is a strong man,” he said.

On Saturday, Samantha Markle, 57, Meghan’s half-sister, even blamed the Duchess of Sussex for her father’s stroke. According to her, the stress caused by Meghan led Thomas to the hospital. The Duchess has yet to publicly comment on her father’s health.

In an interview with TMZ, Samantha said she believes that the stress caused by her sister is what has been weakening her father’s health. She further stated that she hopes Meghan will change her stance, but stressed that she would not be welcome at the funeral if her father dies.

“Better stay away from the funeral and not use the moment as an opportunity to be photographed,” she snapped using an expletive. Samantha even said that if Meghan still hasn’t regretted keeping away from her father, she probably never will.
