The director had a dangerous mission Joseph Kozinski as for the new movie Top Gun: Maverick.

As he revealed, he only had 30 minutes to convince him Tom Cruise to return to the iconic role of the Maverick Navy ace pilot, something the Hollywood star “really did not want to do.”

“I read the script, I also had some ideas for Jerry [Μπρουκχάιμερ – ο παραγωγός] liked these ideas. “He said, ‘You know what, you have to go tell Tom directly,'” Kozinski told Polygon.

“We flew to Paris, where Tom was shooting Mission: Impossible, we had about half an hour of his time.”

“I basically had 30 minutes to put this movie, something I did not understand when we flew. “But when I got there, I realized that Tom really did not want to do another Top Gun,” he explained.

“It’s one of those moments as a director, you have one in every movie, where you’re on the spot to explain why this movie has to be made. “I had 30 minutes to do it,” he said.

As soon as Kozinski finished his effort to promote the film to Cruz, he saw him pick up his phone and call the head of Paramount Pictures.

“We make another Top Gun”, Cruz informed them … head of Paramount, according to Kozinski. “It was really impressive to see the power of a real movie star at that moment,” he said.

The dangerous mission was successfully completed, and the new Top Gun received rave reviews and made a record of receipts.
