It could be a fisherman’s story, but rancher Cleyson Athaide made a point of recording the scene he saw while fishing in the Piquiri River, in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso last Saturday (28), to prove the fact on social media. In the video, a jaguar appears fighting with anaconda amid the water hyacinth and then climbs to the shores with its prey in its mouth.
According to Cleyson told Jornal O Globo, the scene was practically a ‘hunting lesson’, as the jaguar was trying to come down with the cub from the ravine to teach him how to hunt in the water, but the little one hesitated. “She jumped into the water, fought and killed the snake. Then she took the prey to where it was. The cub even tried to approach the animal, but the mother did not allow it, so that it would understand that it needed to learn to hunt”, believes the rancher, still excited about the scene.
Cleyson also said that he was about 10 meters from the jaguar and the cub and almost missed his “hunting class” because he couldn’t find his cell phone on the boat, where he was with his father. Friends of the duo were on another vessel and also witnessed the scene. The rancher admitted that he was nervous and anxious about the situation. “It was something very beautiful to witness. We ended up being privileged because it is something unique in life. It is important to share so that people know the relevance of the Pantanal, an immense wealth”, he explains.
