Actress Jada Pinkett Smith, 50, has spoken for the first time about the slap her husband, Will Smith, 53, gave comedian Chris Rock, 57, after he joked about his wife’s alopecia at the Oscars.
During the opening of the Red Table Talk program, he said that he hopes for a reconciliation between the two. “My deepest hope is that these two smart and capable men will have the opportunity to heal, talk it out and reconcile. In the state of the world today, we need both. And we all really need each other more than ever before.” , commented.
On the program, Jada also highlighted that the case made more women with the disease seek her out to get information and share their stories.
While this meeting between Smith and Rock does not take place, the comedian has been using comedy to talk about aggression at the Oscars. He joked about the lasting effects of the slap during a stand-up show in London.
“I’m fine, if anyone is wondering, I got most of my hearing back,” said the comedian. Elsewhere on the show he said, “Don’t expect me to talk about the bulls. I’ll talk about it at some point…on Netflix.”
After being assaulted by Smith, the comedian saw ticket sales for his comedy show skyrocket after the incident. The day after the slap, the website TickPick, where tickets were sold, reported that public interest was growing a lot, surprising everyone.
