Singer Elton John, 75, reassured his fans after being photographed in a wheelchair at an airport in Germany. The musician said he was in good health and thanked his admirers for their concern.
Some websites said he looked “frail” in images taken after he arrived at Leipzig airport in Germany. On his Instagram, John explained that this happened because they had arrived at the place just before curfew, a kind of cut-off time for circulation when the airport is closed.
As it would be a long walk to the plane, the singer’s team offered to take him in a wheelchair so that he could rest his hips after another show, avoiding further wear and tear.
“I want to thank all my fans for reaching out to ask about my health after the tabloids ran a silly story about my ‘fragile looks’ in a wheelchair,” John wrote in the post.
“The real story is that I am in great health, loving my shows and playing and singing at my best. I give it 100% every night and never want to disappoint, especially after everyone has waited so long to see the shows again. Your response every show has been phenomenal and I’m loving every minute of it.”
“After another exciting two and a half hour show, we arrived at Leipzig airport just before curfew to find that part of the airport had closed. It was an extremely long walk to get to the plane so my team kindly offered a chair on wheels so I could rest my hips after doing the show. That’s all folks,” the singer explained.
The musician had performed in Bern (Germany) the night before.
