The clowns Patati and Patatá were booed and had to run off the stage at a show in Guarantã do Norte, Mato Grosso, last Saturday (4th). The duo, hired by the city hall to celebrate the city’s 41st anniversary, did not please the audience after four songs. Guilt of a misunderstanding in the hiring of the duo.
According to Rinaldi Produções, owner of the Patati Patatá brand, the R$332,800 contract signed in April was for the duo to take pictures in a school environment, with a group of teachers and students. But when they arrived at the place, the two artists were taken to a public square and announced as musical attractions for the crowd.
“When they arrived in the city to participate in the pedagogical project, the duo was surprised by this whole situation, they didn’t even have the necessary components for a show of this size, which includes playful scenarios, scenographic props, technical equipment for sound and lighting, ballet and other characters that make up the show”, says the note from the company responsible for the clowns.
After the repercussion of the episode involving the artists and public management, the Municipality of Guarantã do Norte accepted the error and released a statement exempting the Patati Patatá brand from any liability. “There was an error in the interpretation of the contracting party regarding the occurrence of a show to the detriment of the presentation of didactic material which was attached to the contracted”, wrote the city hall in an official note released this Tuesday (7).
