Amber Heard returned to talk about her relationship with Johnny Depp and the post-trial life, this Wednesday morning (15). In the second part of her interview with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, the actress said that she still loves her ex-husband, but fears he will sue her again.
“I know it can be hard to understand. Or it can be easy too. If you’ve ever loved someone, it should be easy,” he said. Amber also said that she tried everything to make “a deeply frayed relationship” work again and that she doesn’t hold grudges against Depp, even though she was ordered to pay an indemnity of $ 8 million (about R $ 40 million) to him.
In the legal battle followed in real time on TV and on social networks for six weeks, the actor exposed the details of his love life and the couple’s intimacy to the world. Even within all this context, Amber reaffirmed: “I don’t have any resentment”.
The journalist also wanted to know about the text that motivated the process – the article that the actress published in the Washington Post in 2018, in which she defined herself as “a public figure who represents domestic abuse”. She didn’t name Depp by name, but he felt defamed and decided to sue her.
Guthrie asked why Heard wrote it and if she expected to “cancel” Depp with the publication of that text. “He wasn’t about my relationship with Johnny,” she said. “The opinion piece was about me lending my voice to a larger cultural group,” she replied.
In the first part of the interview, broadcast on Monday (13), Amber had said that she understood the jury for the verdict in favor of Depp in the case, tried in the Court of Fairfax, in the US state of Virginia. “I don’t blame them. I really understand. He’s a beloved character, a fantastic actor.”
