Amid the repercussions about her participation in É de Casa (Globo) last Saturday (11), the confectioner Silene used social networks to defend the presenter Talitha Morete. The show sparked a national discussion about structural racism when it showed Talitha asking the cook, the only black guest, to get up from where she was to serve the other people in the studio.
The video went viral and, hours later, the presenter posted an apology on Instagram in which she admits her mistake and states that she intends to turn the episode “into a learning and a commitment.
of constant anti-racist vigil”.
This Wednesday (15), Silene used the Stories of the same network to say that, at first, she did not understand the reason for so much debate. “I was surprised by so many messages and support (…) I didn’t understand why! I’m still kind of lost,” she wrote. She also stressed that she did not feel slighted by the situation. “I don’t write to diminish or trivialize anyone’s pain, because I know that many felt hurt by the scene, but at that moment I didn’t have that feeling.”
The cook, who met Talitha at the beauty salon in Rio de Janeiro, where she sells her cocadas, said she was well received and welcomed in the program and came out in defense of the journalist. “I ask everyone not to attack it. To all of you who are arriving now, you will know me and know that I am for peace, my purpose is not war!“.
She also made a point of thanking the attitude of Manoel Soares (the only black presenter of the attraction), who intervened when Talitha asked Sirlene to serve the other guests. “I also want to leave my gratitude and my hugs to Manoel, for his kindness and all the care he took.”
