Globo reporters who have already suffered from the homophobia of those who did not accept their union, Pedro Figueiredo and Erick Rianelli were married in a lively ceremony full of guests in Rio.
Both had gotten engaged in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and have been married civilly since 2018, but the party was still missing. The two bride and groom held bouquets of colorful flowers. The outfit chosen was the suit with different shades of blue.
The union of both came to light when Pedro received a declaration of love from Erick Rianelli, on Valentine’s Day 2020, live on TV, and the message went viral a year later.
However, Pedro had to counter prejudiced comments on his social network. Some businessmen from BrasÃlia made homophobic speeches, in a WhatsApp group, about the statement made last year. “I speak what I think and what I think. If it bothered you, I’m sorry, kid. I just think it’s not necessary and it’s not necessary to show that kind of thing on open TV, in the newspaper”, said businessman Alexandre Geleia at the time.
“Who never dreamed of receiving a declaration of love on TV? I was so lucky. It was last year, on Valentine’s Day”, began Figueiredo. “The reporters who were live at Bom Dia Rio declared themselves to their loves. On that day, Erick Rianelli was the only LGBT in the group”, he continued, “and the message went viral. It was spontaneous, it was sincere, but also it was a cannon of affection.”
