Priest El. Makos won the poetry competition of the Union of Greek Writers on “200 years since the Greek Revolution (1821-2021)”

The first prize for poetry was won by the Thesprotian priest Fr. Elias Makos in the Panhellenic and Pancyprian Literary Competition of the Union of Greek Writers for 2021, with the theme: “200 years since the Greek Revolution (1821-2021)”.

Fr. Elias Makos participated in the competition with the poem “Litany of Heroes”. The message of the poem is that all the heroes went through the path of sacrifice, in order to defend bit by bit of the Greek land, to preserve the sacred and the sacred.

The verses give meaning and highlight the fact, “that generation after generation, link by link, the unbreakable chain was tied to keep the Greeks alive in the years of slavery with the vision of freedom”, as the priest characteristically pointed out in APE-MPE .

In the “Litany of Heroes”, as reported by Fr. Elias, the ragia is projected to claim his right to live and not to die, rushing boldly against the tyrant and adds: It has many ways of sacrifice. “Every corner of it, and a way of sacrifice.”

Through the lyrics of the “Litany of Heroes” is recorded the urge to love the ideals, which in 1821 symbolizes.

Fr. Elias Makos, a clergyman with a university degree, has been distinguished in the past in other literary competitions.
