The most important award of the seventh national art turns 50 and after two years online due to the pandemic, the Gramado Film Festival returns to be in person between August 12th and 20th, in the Serra Gaúcha. On the night of the presentation of the event, in Rio, this Tuesday (12) there were reunions and a certain political atmosphere among the guests. A new member of the competition’s curator team, Dira Paes celebrated the support given by Anitta, 29, to the PT (Workers’ Parties) pre-candidate, Lula in the upcoming 2022 general elections.

“Wonderful and the more Anitta, the better. The more Anittas on this side, the better, because she can talk to the whole of Brazil and this is a phenomenon that deserves all our applause”, he explains.

Dira, 53, also used the word resistance to define another edition of the event, which had more than 1,000 titles registered and chose 55 productions to be shown, a good part reporting social problems. “This festival is an example of resistance, persistence and construction of ideas to talk about culture, which is an essential asset for human survival”, highlights Dira who will return to talk about the current political moment.

“In Brazil there is always the idea of urgency and now this word has gained its full ownership. It is an urgent, immediate moment. We are about to make very serious decisions for the future of this country and it is necessary to think urgently about everyone more individually”.

Elected as the actor honored with this year’s Oscarito trophy [ ele já recebeu duas vezes o Kikito de Ouro como Melhor Ator Coadjuvante por “Dedé Mamata”, de 1988, e Melhor Ator por “Barrela: Escola de Crimes”, de 1990] Marcos Palmeira, 58, classified the Gramado Festival as another flag being planted to prove that culture resists. “There is no country without culture and there is no citizenship without culture.

The protagonist of ‘Pantanal’, the actor assumed that he considers the current political moment as one of the worst for the artistic class. “We are living through a very difficult time with the criminalization of culture and with artists being marginalized. It is strange and very sad”, admits Palmeira, who rejected the idea that artists did not take a position in the past.

“The artists have always positioned themselves, but now there is a greater demand. I am in favor of [de se tornar público o posicionamento] and I think it’s important to speak out because a political being is a characteristic of all of us. The question is what politics do you do. My policy is that of bridges and not the policy of walls”, observes the actor.

Tarcísio Filho also highlighted the importance of the Gramado Festival for the artistic class and foresees an edition of many conversations and discussions on politics. “The 50th anniversary of a festival has to be celebrated and, thank God, everything, in person. This event is proof that Brazilian culture is of. resistance and this is not new. silence us. One thing is certain: these people have always passed and will continue to pass”, concludes Tarcisinho.
