Paolla Oliveira defends electronic voting machines and criticizes Bolsonaro: ‘Shameful’

Actress Paolla Oliveira, 40, used social media this Tuesday (19) to criticize President Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) attacks on electronic voting machines. The day before, he gathered foreign ambassadors to discredit the electoral system, make coup threats and attack ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).

Paolla highlighted that the electronic voting machine is a tool for collecting votes that has been used for 26 years. “There is a generation that was born after this and already votes using this effective, efficient and proven safe method,” the actress wrote on Twitter.

Without mentioning Bolsonaro and his children by name, Paolla said that it is strange that the voting system is discredited. “Isn’t it strange that politicians who made their life and family in the public sphere, being elected through the electronic ballot box, suddenly invent a thousand stories to justify their own incompetence? It’s strange and shameful.”

The actress also stated in another tweet that Brazil cannot become a bad joke for the world. “This is no joke. Something very dangerous is happening to our democracy!” warned Paolla.

Netizens commented that Bolsonaro supporters believe in flat land and doubt vaccines that spent billions on research. “With the best scientists in the world working together to reach the expected result, imagine if you won’t doubt the electronic ballot box, these irrational animals,” wrote one Twitter user.

“The guy was elected all his life by the electronic ballot box and now he’s in this wrong close-up, total mico”, commented an internet user. Another user of the social network wrote that they want a paper vote to rig the election. “They want the election model to go back to when they were able to rig paper ballot boxes, now that the militia can no longer do that they want to go back to the past.”

Bolsonaro supporters criticized the actress’ post and questioned whether she continues to use a 1996 Motorola cell phone and why the ballot box does not print a paper confirming her vote for the candidate. “What’s the problem with this same urn issuing a receipt? Can’t things evolve?”, asked an internet user.
